The Department promotes effective communication, inculcates a culture of creativity and contributes towards the advancement of society through teaching, research, and innovation.

Communication Skills, a common and compulsory undergraduate course, is housed within the Department. The course is presented in a modular fashion with major emphasis on listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.

In future, the Department will launch short courses in English for General Purposes, English for Specific Purposes and Creative Writing. These courses will target English language needs among students and other interested groups.
